La fotografia di paesaggio, altrimenti detta realistica, è tra le più celebri e celebrate. Tutti ci siamo lasciati incantare da un’alba o un tramonto, dall'immensità di una montagna o dalle onde di sabbia di un deserto. Tutti ci siamo lasciati tentare dal desiderio d’immortalare un attimo per conservarne il ricordo.
In genere, la fotografia di paesaggio attesta l’attimo che il fotografo testimonia ma nello specifico, per quanto paradossale, è fondamentale rendersi conto che, tanto quanto la fotografia artistica, la fotografia di documentazione non ha una diretta relazione con la realtà. Anche quando ci limitiamo a registrarla priva di qualsivoglia presunzione artistica.
Per mezzo della macchina fotografica e di conseguenza della stampa si determinano differenti valori del soggetto immortalato. Tuttavia, ciò non è sufficiente, per quanto indispensabile, a ottenere un’immagine autentica. La differenza è data dalla restituzione del soggetto in funzione di valori basati sull’impatto emotivo ed è questo che fa di una immagine qualcosa di autonomo, specifico e, specialmente, poetico..
E’ il caso di Gianluca Bucci e Kurt Jordan. Entrambi fotografi (il primo italiano, il secondo americano), entrambi affascinati dalla fotografia realistica che trattano con estrema cura e forza interpretativa.
La serie di fotografie che presentano in occasione della mostra titolata CROSSING è a tutti gli effetti un incrocio, un attraversamento, un passaggio.
I dieci scatti di Gianluca Bucci raccontano l’America: California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico. Luoghi intesi come scenari di azioni umane e, più di ogni altra cosa, come protagonisti della fotografia stessa, elogiando i livelli interpretativi del significato di realtà.
I dieci scatti di Kurt Jordan raccontano l’Italia, in particolare, l’antica cultura e straordinaria bellezza di un paese che, di secolo in secolo, è riuscito a conservare nelle architetture tanto quanto nella propria semplicità usi e costumi.
Crossing è l’incrocio di due sguardi differenti che hanno attraversato terre straniere e a sua volta è un passaggio – a senso unico – verso a un terzo luogo, oggi, particolarmente bisogno d’attenzione: il Giappone.”

Photographs of a landscape, what we know as the act of capturing images of reality, are among the most famous and the most admired. Every one of us has experienced moments of enchantment viewing the sunrise and the sunset, the immensity of a mountain or the waves of sands in the desert. Every one of us has been seduced by the desire to immortalize a single instant, to conserve its memory.
In general, an image of a landscape represents a moment of which the photographer is a witness; specifically speaking however, the paradox is that it is fundamentally important for us to realize that neither the artistry of the photograph nor the photographic documentation itself has any direct relationship with reality. And this is true even when we limit ourselves to capturing a scene without any artistic presumptions. Only by means of the camera and consequentially, by way of making the image into print, does the subject immortalized acquires added significance. Nonetheless, this act alone, though necessary, is not sufficient in giving authenticity to the image. The image becomes important when it evokes emotional impact, thus making the image something unique, specific and most importantly, poetic.
This is what we can say of Gianluca Bucci and Kurt Jordan, the two photographers, one Italian and the other American, both are fascinated by images of reality, which they treat with extreme sensibility and their strength in interpretation.
The series of photographs presented on the occasion of the exhibition titled CROSSING are representations of a certain type of crossing, a passing through of crossroads and of passageways.
The ten works of Gianluca Bucci tell us about America: California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico. Places that serve as stages for human behaviour, but more than anything else, places that become protagonists themselves in images that celebrate the level interpreted in the meaning of reality.
The ten works of Kurt Jordan tells to us of Italy, most particularly the ancient culture and the extraordinary beauty of the country, which after centuries and centuries, still manages to conserve in its architecture, its heritage and its traditions.
This show is a crossing of these two different visions that have passed through foreign lands. Together they have arrived on a one way street, that now looks towards a third land, Japan, that is in need of particular attention.
